Research career
Last year, Mathieu submitted his master thesis at EFAR and graduated as a master student in biomedical research where he investigated the differential effects on oligodendrogenesis and cognitive decline following transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) at 10 Hz for one week during the remyelination phase of the acute Cuprizone (CPZ)-demyelination mouse model. Currently, Mathieu started his first year as a PhD student at EFAR. With the ReMynD research project, he aims to further unravel cellular changes and signaling pathways of oligodendrogenesis through which tACS can affect myelin repair and behavior in the CPZ model.
Research stays abroad
- 2024-2025
During a 1-week research visit at the universities of Greifswald (Prof. Matthias Grothe) and Rostock (Prof. Markus Kipp), I was able to present the preliminary results of the ongoing research project and present the new project proposal for our future direction.
This research visit established an important collaboration for my future research project, allowing me to include additional analytical and behavioral tests to not only evaluate neuroinflammation and demyelination, but also examine the clinical relevance of tACS in the Cuprizone mouse model.
